How to Declutter - Fort Worth Homeowners
I’m explaining why you need to declutter if you’re selling your home.
How do all your sundry possessions affect the value of your home when you’re selling it? My biggest struggle as a real estate professional is going into houses where people think the property is ready to be listed, but they have too much stuff in the home. That makes it difficult to value the property properly because I know they’ll lose money, and the home will just sit on the market if all these items remain. You need to get rid of some stuff when you’re selling your house.
If you have a difficult time getting some initiative, start in small spaces such as closets or bathrooms. Get rid of things you aren’t going to use in the next six months. You can get a storage unit, donate it, or throw it away.

Next, take a look at your furniture. Think about each piece and whether you need it to stage the property. Again, store it, or get rid of it. The one thing you shouldn’t do is just stash it somewhere in the home. I see so many people put everything in the garage, but an inspector needs to get in there too.
