Westworth Village: A City On The Move
Conveniently located between White Settlement and Forth Worth lies the city of Westworth Village. It offers its residents all of the advantages of being close to Fort Worth, yet it provides the comfortable feeling of living in a small city with all of the services one could want. From the friendly wave of a local police officer to a firm handshake with the mayor at a local eatery, Westworth Village residents enjoy a small-town feel in a major metropolitan area.
Westworth Village boasts of a rapidly expanding tax base, low taxes, a recently upgraded city infrastructure, an excellent financial condition, Hawks Creek Golf Club, and a responsive government. The city proudly serves the residents and takes great pride in its relationship with all who live there.
Westworth Village History
Westworth Village’s growth was helped in large part by the construction and development of Carswell Air Force Base. In 1941, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce deeded 1,400 acres to the federal government for the construction of the base, and Westworth Village was incorporated that same year.
Carswell is a former United States Air Force Base, located northwest of Fort Worth. For most of its operational lifetime, the base’s mission was to train and support heavy strategic bombing groups and wings.
With the end of the Cold War and the subsequent downsizing of the American military, the 1991 Base Realignment and Closure Commission recommended that Carswell be closed by 1994. Today, the facility is known as Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base. It retains an Air Force Reserve presence as well as a Navy Reserve and a Marine Corps Reserve.
Homes
Westworth Village has a wide variety of beautiful homes, with prices running the gamut from the low $200’s to over $2.5 million. It’s not unusual to see a three-bedroom, two-bath home on a generous sized lot for the mid $200’s, as well as a five-bedroom, five-bath home with over 4,000 square feet of living space, for $1 million.
There are several well-appointed gated communities within Westworth Village. They feature stunning homes with lush landscaping and residents enjoying community swimming pools. Both retirees and families with school-aged children enjoy the Westworth Village lifestyle.
One gated community of note is Westworth Falls. It recently featured a four-bedroom, three and ½ bath home listed at $699,000. The spectacular granite chef’s kitchen has an island and abundant cabinets and counter space. It features a monument fireplace, and its massive master suite has an opulent bath with double shower and separate vanities.
Schools
The Fort Worth Independent School District serves Westworth Village.
Westworth Village Public Library serves the city.
